LOVE THIS ONE! Ok, before you read, ask the littles to look at the cover and describe the seed.
Talk about what it means to be good and how you can make good choices.
Read the story, stopping when they have questions, or when you feel a prompt is in order.
When you get to the end, have the kiddos retell the story to you.
Discuss whether your predictions were true. Ask the kiddos why the seed decided to change.
Talk about things you wish you could change about yourself, other than the way you look.
Discuss what might be meant by a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. Give some examples of each. mrshenryinfirst.com can help you out!! Lots of other great ideas on the site too! The link is under the pic :)
Time to craft!! You can do a quick google image search to find a TON of sunflower crafts out there. Here are some I like:
Time to start some seeds! There are lots of other fun eco friendly options out there too if you care to google like starting seeds in ice cream cones or newspaper.
Don't forget the physical fun!
Try out some different SPORTS! See how many different sports you can think of. Go outside and practice some of your favourites AND some that you haven't tried before! It can be helpful to use big balls for the littles eg. hit a balloon with a pool noodle to play baseball! Throw a ball through a hula hoop for basketball, etc.
Have the kiddos to SKIP with a jump rope or just skipping around the room! Both are really difficult concepts for the littles so let them know that they might not get it right away, but to keep on practicing and one day they'll be skipping all over the place!! Older kids will have fun with a DIY Skip it!
And of course a song! This is a fun one from Kidboloomers. Btw...Kidbloomers has so many other fabulous songs for the kiddos, you'll want to check them out!

I've started this page during the COVID break to help the kiddos continue learning at home. Most activities can be done with kids of all ages if parents vary the level of content, participation and discussion appropriate to each child! (differentiated instruction). Before the break we were at letter S. Visit our facebook page for letter A-R activities at https://www.facebook.com/evergreenacademy.ca/
